Two killed, two injured as landslide hits Dadson, oil tanker on Karakoram Highway

A devastating landslide on the Karakoram Highway in Lotar, Kohistan, claimed the lives of two people and left two others injured after hitting a Dadson vehicle and an oil tanker.
The deceased, identified as Islam Zad and Sahib Zad, were brothers from Mira Babatkot in Shangla district. They were traveling to Chilas when the landslide occurred, trapping their vehicle under the rubble and resulting in their immediate deaths.
According to rescue officials, the incident occurred due to rainfall, triggering a landslide that blocked the highway and stranded several travellers.
The injured have been shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Traffic remains suspended on the Karakoram Highway, causing inconvenience to commuters. Officials have advised travellers to remain cautious and stay updated on road conditions before planning their journeys. Efforts are underway to clear the debris and reopen the highway. The incident has caused substantial human and financial losses, highlighting the dangers of natural disasters in the region.
